Scania Announces Opening of $2.3 Billion Factory in China

Volkwagen AG owned heavy truck manufacturer, Scania, has announced the opening of their new $2.3 Billion manufacturing facility in Rugao, Jiangsu Province, China.

The announced facility has capacity for 50,000 vehicles per year across 800,000 sq meters with production starting before the end of the year. It is expected to create about 3,000 new jobs locally This is the largest individual investment ever announced by Scania who sold a total of 102,000 vehicles last year.

This factory will feed the booming Chinese market along with plans to export to the rest of Asia around them.
